2006
In 2006 an interest group formed as a steering committee to study the juvenile justice system in Sonoma County.
During 2006, the group:
- Drafted a Juvenile Justice Interest Proposal which was accepted by the local League board in September, 2006. Click here to download the proposal in PDF format.

In 2007 the Interest Group:
- Hosted a Juvenile Justice Town Hall Forum.
- Compiled feedback from the forum. The audience was invited to comment in writing on issues raised in the forum. The commitee provided a list of all comments in verbatim form to individuals and organizations who requested them and to the panelists. The lists are available from the committee chair.
- Interviewed key personnel in Sonoma County's juvenile justice system,
- Reviewed local reports on cost and effectiveness of various county programs.
- Reviewed models of juvenile justice in other counties and/or states.
2008
On March 1, 2008, The League of Women Voters of Sonoma County and the Juvenal Justice and Delinquency Prevention Commission of Sonoma County sponsored a forum, Juvenile Justice in Sonoma County. A major part of the forum were ten break-out sessions or community conversations on related topics. You may download a summary of the conversations in PDF format.
The Juvenile Justice Interest Group meets twice a month. People who would like to attend are asked to contact the Chairwoman Ann Berens.
